The Roots Of Womens Sports And Womens Sportswear

By Amanda Brooks

Human beings have always been very competitive with each other. Like how wild animals compete to survive and get the needed food to live on, humans do this as well. There are many things that people do in live on, but in the recent centuries, competitions became more common among different cultures that allowed it.

The kinds of things people do to prove superiority is long and recorded throughout history. This has been going since the caveman has begun to take step towards evolution. The need and drive has gotten to the point that anything can be used as a measuring stick. The biggest one though, comes in the form of sporting events. Women and UNC Charlotte womens sportswear have a long place in history.

The original purpose of sporting was to train the soldiers. When one is recruited to be a part of the army in the time of ancients, they are required to compete and perform to prove that they can be relied on when the time of battle comes. This was the same for women that choose to join the army, as they are required to participate like everyone else.

The same principle also applies to team games. The origins of it are fairly the same as the first one. Soldiers are required to compete with each other. But the aim for this exercise is to train the recruits in teamwork. They will be placed in different squads and tasked to face off in different events, the most likely one being a mock battle to simulate battlefield situations.

Unlike the modern sporting events of today, the ancient world had different rules and customs to their events. In Sparta, women were shown to actively compete with their male counterparts in the various events that have held, like hunting and wresting. This proved how tough and strong the Spartan women were compared to their contemporaries.

In classical Greece, the king had implemented and introduced a new tradition that would last for thousands of years. This was the Olympics, which is still here today. Though, the sports they had was much different that what is there now. Several representatives would flock to Athens to participate for the glory that was given out.

When the Romans had taken over the Greeks, they also adapted the culture that the Greeks had with them. In contrast to others, females were not directly allowed to participate in games and sporting events. The most famous of Roman sporting events that took place at the coliseum were chariot races.

The modern incarnation of sporting is far friendlier. Many compete with each other for fun and leisure. The advancement also had women become more of a central part in different sports and competitions.

Thanks to more progress in equality, the sporting world has become more accepting of participants that are not male. Because of this, the opportunities for each one is now better than what it was during the past. Many are now able to do as they like without any worry of constriction of the state or of governments.
