The Different Kinds Of Exotic Hats Today

By Charles Murray

Aside from technology advancing nowadays, also our clothing style is advancing. Each decade represents a certain kind of clothing style. In the seventies, the hippies wore those pants that widens at the end and have those flower crowns. For the eighties, parachute pants, jean jackets and high top shoes were the trend. Nineties had a baggy outfit like having large shirts. It has all evolved including our head pieces. So let us take a look on the exotic hats in the future, present and past.

The purpose of these before this fashion industry boomed was to cover the top of our heads from rainfall to avoid getting it wet and from the sun and its heat. But now, these items are not even serving that purpose anymore. They are used to be part of a fashion statement. You have probably seen a baseball cap worn the other way, an example of not being used properly.

Something originally from a different or foreign country is called exotic. If you ever tried eating fried spiders as a snack, this is an example of an exotic food because it is not common to familiar places. Example of exotic plant is one who cannot adapt to the new environment where it was planted.

We all know Frank Sinatra and that he is a legend in the music industry. Michael Buble is even a certain musician who is following his footsteps like a younger version of him. Sinatra has this gentleman look usually. That look is wearing a blazer and the famous fedora, one example of that head piece. Most gentlemen are wearing this but it also evolved to be used in informal occasions.

Another kind is the beret. When one typically thinks of how a person living in France would appear is having that striped long sleeve shirt, a handkerchief in the neck and the beret. They are those round shaped pieces on top of your head that have a short vertical thing at its center. People who also wear them are by jazz musicians, too.

Now let us go to the Asian part of the world with the cone shape head pieces. Unlike a fedora and beret, this is made out of straw because it is what they harvest. Although there is another kind called the straw cap but the shape of this is what makes it unique.

Religion might be a reason to why one is wearing a certain top piece instead of fashion. These are the turbans for Muslim men and the Hijab for Muslim women. They are sacred practices in generations in their country. They are used to cover, protect what they think should not be exposed.

Getting to know all these head gear is like having a trip around the world. Middle East has the fez, Native Americans have those feather material known as the war bonnet, Charlie Chaplin and his famous top which is a bowler, hand knitted for dreadlocks called tam, an African kufi, the furry top in Russia named Ushanka, fun looking sombreros by our Mexican friends and a whole lot more. Each piece is a different style from another place.

It would be a great souvenir for one to have. It is considered a great one because it can tell a story to somebody. The story that deals with culture, ethnicity and even fashion is a good way to start a conversation. And at least one has something to talk about when owning these.
