Why Tyvek Suits Are The Best Garment For Many Industries

By Krystal Branch

One of the items or garments that has saved more workers from dangerous elements in the work place is the disposable protective suits. These are generically called Tyvek Suits, however these items, manufactured by Dupont, are the only true standard to which every other garment is compared. The number of industries who use this single layer of high density polyethylene fabric to protect their employees is a very long list.

Food manufacturing plants will use these suits to protect the product from the wearer as does electronic and pharmaceutical clean room industries. The very nature of the garments work in both directions as the fabric works to prevent passage of substances from inside or out to pass through them. This makes them very flexible as a working uniform and, also, as a way of identifying those working in a specific area or discipline.

These suits will come in various colors. Many of them have hoods and some of them will have booties or shoe coverings attached. Elastic wrist bands is the normal configuration, however, there are those with belted openings. The neck will be collared if there is no hood. A model that has a hood, booties and drawstring type face opening is the best protection for all situations especially if a pair of goggles are also worn.

Most of them will have a zipper in the front and a seamless presentation. This is to help prevent contaminants coming through that seam. The back is a stretchy panel and some have additional belts to snug it tighter. Getting these garments in the proper size is important so as not to limit movement of the body.

Suits like these are a common sight in chemical plants. The spills that are almost inevitable will not be able to get through the material. Unless the wearer is dipped into the substance they are protected by this strong material. It is strong enough to crawl around in some of the dirtiest areas and still not rip. This activity is very common for janitorial personnel working in confined spaces to clean or service equipment located there.

Most of the cleaning specialties use these garments as well. This is a natural as crime scene clean up can be a contamination source that is hard to clean out of street clothes, easily. Foreclosure cleaning is also something no professional wants to delve into without this protective material being around them. Window cleaners will often use these as they protect from water and also allow an extra layer of warmth.

Using a suit of this nature can help productive workers get more done. They can get a little closer, carefully, to dangerous elements without the fear of being contaminated. Cleaning operations will be enhanced when the protection is assured and all of the rules are followed.

Using these Tyvek Suits, in the way they are supposed to be used, will help employees stay out of trouble. People can handle some of the tasks they are required to handle and, even if they get sprayed or spilled by something, they can be protected. These can be cleaned or, if there is nothing dangerous about what is on them, can be used again the next day.
