Tips For Creating Memorable Wedding Candelabra Centerpieces

By Kenneth Hamilton

Your wedding reception is second in importance only to your nuptials. From the food to the entertainment and the flowers you want it all to come together and be a night be remember. If you plan to have a formal sit down supper, or a banquet, there is more to decide that what you and your guests will eat. The centerpieces, place settings, and linens have to set the right tone. Candelabra centerpieces, for instance, have to correspond to your theme, the table configurations, the venue regulations, and have a few surprising elements to make your tables unique.

A theme is important when you are decorating a large event room. This is what pulls the room into a cohesive unit. You can tie your reception theme in with your wedding theme or have a seasonal style reception. Candelabras appropriate for rustic receptions won't be at all appropriate for something as formal as a Victorian themed reception.

You must take your venue into consideration. A lot of venues prohibit clients from using anything that involves flames or breakable glass. If this is the case where you plan on holding your reception, you need to know in plenty of time to make alternative arrangements. The last thing you want is to be decorating the night before your wedding just to find out the candelabras you are planning to use don't conform to the venue's regulations.

If you are planning on having a head table, with guests seated at smaller tables positioned around the room, you will need several sizes of candelabras. You might have several prominent candelabras arranged along the head table, pulled together with garland. The guest tables may have smaller centerpiece versions of the head table.

Flowers traditionally accompany candle arrangements at receptions. If this is your choice, you must decide between silk and fresh. Fresh cut flowers are the first choice of most, but they can get pricey if you have a big room and a lot of tables to decorate. Depending on how long the reception lasts, silk might be the way to go.

If you're really creative, you might eliminate the flowers altogether and go in an entirely different direction. Flowers can be hard to work with and tricky to transport. Even the silk variety are sometimes a time consuming chore. You could consider going with fruits or vegetables arranged around your candelabras for instance.

Even if you opt for traditional floral arrangements to accompany your candelabras, you can still do something unusual and unexpected. You could intermix your flowers with stone, branches, seashells, or feathers for a creative and whimsical look. Consider not using matching candelabras. You might choose something slightly different for each table to make a striking statement.

You can create a memorable and elegant reception in a lot of ways. It isn't necessary to break the bank to get a look you will be proud of. You will need some imagination to create a room that you and your guests will remember.
