Accessible Luxury Is Something Everyone Can Appreciate

Preserved flower jewelery is becoming very popular and is a way of keeping beauty alive. Each special flower is set in resin where it will be transformed into a keepsake that will last a very long time. It can be given to a friend or a loved one where they can cherish the token with fond memories and with a bit of extra care, it could have a true air of accessible luxury to it.

Each piece can have its own shape and color added and can even be inserted into a frame to match the necklace. These flowers need not be real as artificial ones work just as well and pieces of wedding lace or confetti can be added as well. There are businesses all around the world that will customize ones keepsake for a price but making them oneself is even more exciting.

To preserve one will need to obtain liquid resin from any hobby or craft store. They will normally come in two bottles that when mixed together will form a thick liquid. A mold of some kind will be needed as well. Once this liquid is poured into the mold it will harden either slowly or quickly depending on the type sold at the store. If liquid resin cannot be obtained acrylic resin works just as well.

In order to dry the flowers before setting it in resin one will need to cut the leaves and excess stem off. In a small air tight container fill about an inch with a silica powder, it has the appearance of salt and is sometimes referred to as silica gel. Put the flower in the container and close the lid. Leave for about five days so that all the moisture can be removed. Alternatively one can place the flower in the container upside down and completely cover it, putting it inside a microwave for about 5 minutes.

Next cover the work area with newspaper preferable in a very well ventilated area and always remember to use gloves. Remove the flower from the gel carefully, if done in the microwave be careful as it is hot. Gently shake all the granules off and spray with a light coat of resin spray. If this process is left out it could cause the flower to crumble once the resin is added. Leave to dry as per the instructions indicated on the can.

Add the two bottles of resin to a mold or a plastic cup and always follow the instructions. Stir carefully for the time allocated and leave to one side. Spray the inside of the mold with a mold release spray, this will just make it a little easier when removing the flower cast.

Another unique piece is to make a ring, ear rings and even cuff links and add hundreds and thousands. Some are even making clear resin buttons filled with their favorite sweet or shell. The possibilities are endless and are guaranteed to bring a smile each time one sees the special article.

The following day it can be popped it out of the container. One can then customize it into a preserved flower jewelery piece. It is guaranteed to last a life time and can be passed down from generation to generation.
