Hide Your Ink Regrets With A Tattoo Concealer

By Jocelyn Davidson

Part of growing up is making decisions that you'll regret later on. Some people get a terrible haircut or date someone who is completely unsuitable. Others make decisions that have a long-lasting impact, though. An easy way to deal with one of the most common of these types of decision is to invest in a good tattoo concealer.

Tattoos have become very fashionable. Back in the day, it was mostly bikers, sailors and criminals that sported them and to get inked, you needed to find a parlor in the seedy part of town. Now you really only have to visit the mall. The problem with the accessibility of tattoos is that people don't always think through their designs and forget that they'll have to wear these for life. While you don't really need to hide your ink for a job interview, since your boss is likely to sport some tattoos as well, there are times when you may want to conceal the terrible design decision you made on impulse.

Among the tattoos that people most commonly want to hide are those that weren't done very professionally. Not all tattooists are gifted artists and instead of sporting a beautiful piece of art on your body, you may end up with something that looks as if it was drawn by a three-year-old. Another common problem is opting for a slogan but not getting the spelling right, so that 'no regrets' reads as 'no regerts'.

Another common tattoo regret is to get the name of your great new love tattooed on your body in those heady first weeks of a relationship. When the excitement wears off and you find yourself wondering why you ever wanted to be with this person, you're cursed with that constant reminder of them every time you look at your left buttock. Even worse, every love that follows in years to come will have to look at that name as well.

Especially young people tend to choose tattoos about something they're passionate about right at that moment. It can be a picture of their favorite singer, for instance, or the name of a TV show they love. These tattoos are often regretted before they've even healed properly.

While bad tattooing decisions can be quite funny, there are cases where they end up becoming a matter of life and death. In most gangs, for instance, the members get tattoos that will identify who they're affiliated with. Even when they leave the gang, they can still be killed by the members of a rival gang if they venture into that group's territory.

In the past, if you didn't like your tattoos anymore, you had no choice but to learn how to live with these. Today you can have them removed but the procedure is expensive. If laser removal is beyond your budget, a good concealer may be your best option. This is of course a great alternative too if you only want to hide your ink for a short period of time.

Some tattoo parlors may sell concealers as well. Bridal stores and stores selling stage supplies may be able to help too or you can simply order a product online. However, be sure that the tone of the product perfectly matches your skin tone or it will create a discolored blotch that is even more unsightly.
