Turbans are known as traditional Islamic wear, worn mainly in the Far and Middle East. However, nowadays more modern people are wearing it as a fashion item. Some for cultural reasons, some for fun and some for special occasions. No matter what the reason, here are some useful tips on how to turban.

Those who wear it on a daily basis will be most accustomed to the procedure. It will be second nature and they can do it without even thinking about it. For newcomers, it may seem a little tricky. The turban can be purchased in shops that sell Eastern wear. They are usually only used for men, so look in the relevant department. Perhaps consult with the sales staff about which fabric and colors are most recommended. Cotton is usually the best material because it is light and cool.

The colors usually come in white or black. Match the item with a black or white suit or kurtha, which is a long Islamic garment worn by men. Some may even want to be a bit more daring and don a turban with a pair of jeans and a shirt for an ethnic exotic look at a party or smart casual function.

Follow these simple steps on how to turban once you are ready to wear it. Make sure your shirt is already on so you will not have to put anything else over your head. The first thing is to make sure you have a tail end at the back. To do this, place the material from back to front on the top of the head, with a little tail hanging at the nape of the neck till just above the middle of the back.

Hold the left hand firmly in place on top of the head and wind the rest of the fabric around from left to right in a circular motion around the head. Be careful not to make it too tight but also not so lose that it will fall off. Some people like to wear a cap underneath to hide the strands of hair.

Keep winding the turban around the head with a slight twisting motion of the material for style. Once it is completely wrapped around, tuck the loose end underneath one of the folds. You could also fasten it with a pin it make extra sure that it does not come undone. Turn the head from side to side and up and down to make sure it feels comfortable at all angles.

With new emerging fashion trends and a global eye on the Eastern world, turbans are surprisingly becoming more popular. It no longer looks strange to see someone donning a turban at a wedding or office party.
